1.How did you first become interested in fashion design and what inspired you to pursue it as a career?
My dream of becoming a fashion designer started when I first saw Audrey Hepburn’s My Fair Lady classic movie when I was a kid. I was so mesmerized and inspired by the costumes of Cecil Beaton in the movie and in that very moment I decided that I can’t imagine myself doing anything else other than fashion.
Growing up in the picturesque island of Samar in the Philippines, I would immerse myself in delightful games of dress-up, drawing inspiration from my Hollywood muses. In my imagination, I envisioned these magnificent heroines adorned in my very own creations, and this vision became my driving force, propelling me to chase after my design dreams with unwavering determination.
2.Could you share some insights into your creative process and how you approach designing each
collection?
The chosen season plays a pivotal role in shaping the entire creative journey of the collection. It serves as the foundation upon which every aspect of the design process is built. The creative journey commences with an intensive research phase, where ideas are explored, trends are analyzed, and artistic influences are carefully curated.
Inspired by the essence of the selected season, a moodboard is meticulously crafted, capturing the emotions, colors, textures, and aesthetics that will define the collection’s unique identity. This moodboard serves as a guiding light throughout the creative process, ensuring that every design element aligns harmoniously with the overarching theme.
With the vision and inspiration in place, the designers delve into the intricate process of transforming ideas into tangible garments. The actual designing stage unfolds, where sketches are transformed into detailed patterns and prototypes. As the collection takes shape, multiple rounds of sampling and adjustments are undertaken, with a keen eye for precision and refinement.
The journey is an iterative one, with constant feedback and fine-tuning, aiming for perfection. Each piece is thoughtfully examined, ensuring that it seamlessly fits into the collective vision while still retaining its individual charm. The designers, artisans, and craftsmen work in sync, pouring their passion and creativity into every stitch and detail, bringing the collection to life.

3.What are some of the key elements that make your designs unique and stand out?
My signature element is defined by the luxurious and intricate nature of my creations, characterized by the seamless and elegant combination of fabrics and Swarovski crystals. Delicate embroidery, meticulous hand-embellishments, and voluminous silhouettes further contribute to the distinctiveness of my designs.
4.How do you ensure that each piece you create reflects the individuality and style of the person wearing it?
In the process of crafting every single piece, I prioritize its uniqueness and its ability to reflect the authenticity of the person who wears it, unfailingly.
5.Can you tell us about a particularly memorable or challenging project you’ve worked on and how you overcame any obstacles?
The most challenging project was undoubtedly my debut at Paris Fashion Week in 2016, an immense global fashion scene.
6.In your opinion, what role does fashion play in making someone feel unique and confident?
The essence of all my collections, past, present, and future, is to empower women. I strive to create pieces that make women feel strong, confident, and capable of conquering the world when they don a Michael Cinco creation.
One of my favorite quotes encapsulates this vision: “A Michael Cinco woman is moneyed. She may not be born into royalty but she better be married into one. My clothes appear seamless. They look heavy and yet they float. They look expensive simply because they are”.
